Alex hummed along with the song playing from his ipod as he set his bags down and opened the door to his room. He let the door swing open and looked at it briefly. He grabbed his bags back up and placed them all on the nearest bed. He turned his ipod off and threw it on the bed as well.
Wandering around a bit, Alex took in the new place. Blinding white walls, large closets, a bathroom, a few beds, some matching dressers, the usual. He sighed and looked at his bags, suddenly imposing. He didn't want to unpack he wanted to relax. He sighed again and grabbed his first bag and emptied it on the bed. He wasn't very organized at all. He took some of his jeans and placed them in the dresser droor. Following the jeans came more and then some shirts.
When he was finished with his clothes and everything, he shoved his bags under the bed and flopped down on it. He took his ipod and put it back in his ears and turned it on again. He looked around from the bed and realized one of two things. One, he'd left the door open and two, he hadn't put his books away. He sat up and unwillingly took the books from the floor and picked them up.
He moved all the books to the dresser but as he walked away one fell from the stack. He grabbed it and a picture fell out. Confused, he grabbed it and looked at it. He dropped the book he held. The picture was him and his brother Ryan. Ryan had died only recently. Alex took a deep breath and placed the picture back in the book. He put the book on the dresser and layed on the bed again. Don't think about it. Don't think about him. He told himself. He'd totally forgot about door now.

Maggie hauled herself out of her red four door pickup and looked at the tall building. She was sure as hell glad she wasn’t on the top floor- not with all the bags she’d brought. Then again compared to some of the girls here she’d probably brought nothing. She grabbed her white oversized bag with red and yellow stripes on it that was overflowing with books of all sorts- she was taking everything from English to gym. She grabbed her two large black suitcases from the back and hauled them up the stairs- not wanting to have to make two trips when she was already dead tired.
Maggie hauled her bags up, reading the dorm numbers. As she was almost at the second one she tripped over her own feet and found herself doing a face plant into the floor. Her suitcases stayed close, but her books spread everywhere. “Shit” she muttered fairly loudly. She realized the door was open to the dorm and couldn’t believe herself- everybody was going to think she was a total idiot. Great job Maggie, just start everything off by broadcasting you’re a klutz. Then she remembered another wonderful thing, the dorms we’re coed. Now she really was going to broadcast that she was a klutz. The sucky thing was, she totally wasn’t a klutz. Actually she was fairly good with her feet- but like they’d actually believe that.
Maggie brushed her short denim skirt off and her white V neck that revealed her cleavage that perfect amount off as she stood up. She realized she should have stayed on the floor and sank to her knee’s slowly grabbing a few books. She finished and realized she was still missing her grade twelve science book. And then she saw it- inside the dorm room. She stood up, dusted herself off and pushed a loose big blonde curls into place. She walked in easily, and smiled- she was amazing at hiding her nervousness. “I’m Maggie” she introduced herself lightly, wishing this had been a empty dorm- or at least not a guys dorm. She bent down and grabbed her science text book and held it lightly with her one hand, the other resting lightly on her hip. [/blockquote]

Alex was listening to a skillet song when he heard a noise. He sat up and looked towards the door and thats when he realized he had left it open. He felt like hitting himself in the head with a book for doing that. Now he's going to look like the idiot leaving his door open for people he thought."Nice way to start the year genius" He said to himself.
He swung his legs off the bed and stood up. Pulled the headphones out of his ear he tossed his ipod on his bed yet again. As he was walking towards the door he saw a book on the floor. Not his book. Oh man he thought. Just as he was about to move, a girl walked into the room and picked it up. And then she introduced herself.
Alex stood there for a minute looking at her. "Hi. I'm Alex" He said casually, still kinda confused at this moment. He ran a hand through his hair, something he did often. He looked at the girl, she was very pretty.

“Nice to meet you- and I’m sorry to interrupt whatever you were doing but I uh- dropped my books” said Maggie her soft smile still remaining on her face easily, though her mind wondered how much of a dork she looked like. “Are you new? ‘Cause if so we could uh tour the campus together. Since I don’t feel like unpacking and nor do I feel like looking like a totally idiot wandering around hopelessly by myself/ I prefer to drag somebody along to act as a companion when I look like an idiot- which is pretty much always” said Maggie easily. Wow, you’d never know her mind was secretly screaming run before he thinks you really are an idiot. ” I’ll let you think- I’m going to throw my stuff on a bed and take a quick shower. If your bored then we can look like idiots together” said Maggie, walking casually out of the room his face still in her mind. He was cute- with nice hair. But what did it matter, he’d probably never date a total dork like her.
Maggie through her suitcases and bag on the ground, all landing in three different thuds. She shrugged easily and leaned over one, grabbing pretty much the first things she saw. A pair of Nike spandex shorts and a red halter top. Pretty simple- but she was sweating slightly and needed to feel the cold water against her skin. She wondered down the hall, showered quickly and changed. She stepped out of the bathroom, towel and a white bathroom bag in hand. Her hair still had it’s bouncy, big blonde curls hanging around her face. She loved her natural curls- most of the time. She through everything in a pile on the bed near the bay window, claiming the best, and then grabbed an elastic before heading back to the boys dorm. “You made up your mind if you want to look like an idiot yet. She pulled her hair up into a high ponytail as she waited, and although she felt a tad underdressed everyone who saw her would realize she was naturally drop dead gorgeous. [/blockquote]

"No no no you didn't interrupt anything. I was just uh-" He cut himself off and stopped himself from saying anything about the picture "thinking" He finished. He listened to her talk and thought 'you? an idiot? why do I find that hard to believe?' but he said nothing. "Well looking like an idiot is what I do best." He commented. He watched her walk away and stood there for a minute.
Alex put the ipod in the pocket of his old faded jeans. Running his hands through his hair yet again he considered his options. Go for a tour with this girl or stay here and do nothing-there wasn't much of an argument. He took the book and put it in a dresser droor. 'Forget it' He told himself. He heard Maggie and turned around. "I guess I'll be an idiot with you" He said with a smile "It sounds like fun"

Maggie laughed at his comment and then disappeared for a brief moment to grab something to slip on her feet. She looked at her suitcases thought shoes. Where had she put them? She definitely need to learn to organize things. She opened one and found some red flip flops with black horseshoes on them- She still wasn’t sure if she’d bought them because she’d liked them of because they were horse themed. She slipped them on, a small tapping sound entered the air as the rubber hither foot when she walked. She took a few steps backward and glanced at herself in the mirror that was on the wall of the dorm room. This definitely showed off her body- but she was extremely underdressed for a school that would be plastered with Hollister labels. She glanced at her suitcases- wondering if she should grab her nice clothes. Her mind was submerged with self conscious thoughts and she had to close her eyes to get them to disappear- just be you she told herself mentally.
Maggie repapered at his door and motioned with her hand that she’d be waiting at the main doors. When she got their she found to her disgust it was starting to spit. She turned and flopped down on a red futon and grabbed a AQHA journal off the table. She flipped through the pages- wishing she could afford just one more horse. She’d always wanted a quarter horse. She looked around the lounge- it was gorgeous. Futons were gathered in groups around nice black and silver tables that had magazines and other things set nicely on them. On the far wall was a large flat screen TV and a DVD player and radio. She got up and walked over, her finger running over the different video names. Chris Irwin, Pirelli, and a few other well known horse trainers, show jumping videos, dressage videos, reining videos and many other instructional videos. She looked down at the next shelf which contained many real movies- like 27 dresses and Baby Mama. Maggie laughed almost silently, this school was so amazing. [/blockquote]

Alex walked around his room looking for his shoes. Where had he put them? He was so unorganized it wasn't even funny. After searching for a near ten minutes he found them. One of them was under his bed for some unknown reason and one was by the closet. He just lost his head sometimes.
He grabbed the room key and walked out of the room. Remembering to shut the door this time, he left his room and began walking down the long hallway, his footsteps echoing, being the only sound in the area. He reached the main doors and saw Maggie looking at some movies. He walked up behind her an dread some of the titles. "You know this is a really good movie" He said as he pointed to a dark cover with red writing.

“Really? I’ve never seen it” said Maggie grabbing the case and slipping it out. She examined the cover easily, her finger tracing lightly over the outline of the picture. She wondered if he thought she was a total goof- not wearing hundred dollar shoes but mere flip flops, not blow drying her hair for hours before even thinking about saying hello to a guy. But that just wasn’t Maggie- Maggie was too- shall we say down to earth? She was stylish and be assured by many people she was pretty- but she just never put that extra bit into her appearance. She rarely for foundation- let alone spent an hour doing her make up. Maggie was lucky- she was just naturally beautiful 0 but she second guessed her looks a lot. No anorexic girl, but she did try to avoid standing out. Maggie was Maggie- nothing really more to it.
Maggie lifted her eyes to the rows of CD’s. Most people probably had their own ipods- but obviously the school was thinking about when they got together. Heck they even had an ialive. Maggie asked easily ”So- what kind of music do you like?” Maggie ran her fingers along the spines of the CD’s, mentally choosing what ones she thought were interesting. [/blockquote]

"Hm, you should sometime" He said plainly. That was one thing Alex hated about himself, he was plain. He had no special talents or anything he liked to do, besides read, but what kind of interesting thing was that?
He looked around the room, glancing upon the people sitting on the futons, some watching TV, reading, talking. The norm for kids. The lounge here was amazing, equipped with anything that a kid would need to satisfy their needs when not in school.
He glanced upon the things in front of him. DVDs, Cd's, magazines, books, everything for the most part focused around horses. He smiled when he thought of his own horse, Jake.
"I like all kinds of music. A little of everything. The only kinda I don't like, are oldies and blues. yuck" He said, smiling. Music was his thing, he loved music.

“ Music person?” she asked- figuring he was fairly interested in music. Maggie slipped a CD into the player and selected song. ‘Cyclone’ came through the speakers and it was obvious everyone ahd headphones in- for none of them even looked up. Maggie sang softly, but got a little louder at her favourite part. “Shawty got looks, And Shawty got class, Shawty got hips, And shawty got-” She sang easily then realized she was singing out loud. Oh shit she thought- he probably thought she was a total idiot. A total freak, a total wannabe, a total- outcast. Maggie’s mind fluttered and she stopped the song- as if she was sick of hearing it, but more because her mind was racing with thoughts and fear, She slipped it back in and continued to look at the CD’s- pretending it had never happened.
Maggie looked at the stack of magazines and seeing the new Cover saddlery catalogue grabbed it easily before flopping down on a near by futon. She flipped it open to the first page- her eyes busily moving across the words and pictures- planning what she should save up for. Maggie totally forgot about Alex- and the fact they were supposed to be touring the school together. She was too busy picking out what saddle pad she wanted and what bell boots would match it best. "Most definitely" He replied simply. He watched her put in the CD, not catching the title or artist or any information before she slipped in into the player. Alex laughed at Maggie, not a point and laugh but a friendly laugh. She was very pretty with an attitude to match.
He watched her eying the magazines and somehow wasn't surprised when she pulled one out and sat down to read it. She seemed way to focused on the magazine to be bothered, and it didn't bother Alex. He ran a finger over the magazines himself reading the titles one by one.
He let his finger run over the bindings more than once before pulling out a tack magazine. He wasn't in need for any new tack, he had his things from home which suited Jake just fine and they weren't that old but he loved looking at the magazines. He flipped open the magazine, sitting no the floor still and let his eyes wander over the page.
