The riding instructor came in, and showed the mare a strange object. Jacky got up and shied away. "Don't worry. It wont hurt you." She said to the horse with a smile and calmly walked to the mare that was now walking up to her as well. Jacky sniffed the halter, then the riding instructor. She looked at the halter, with curious eyes. Then, she decided it was safe. The instructor slowly put the halter on the mare's head. Jacky did a tiny rear, and accepted the new but comfortable head piece. The stall door opened, but the mare made no effort to escape. Over night, she learned to like the stall. As well as the other horses. They walked to the outdoor riding ring, where the mare was halted. The riding instructor put a long lead rope on the halter. Then she grabbed a whip, not to hit the mare, but ask for her to pick up another gait. Jacky walked slowly, watching the whip. Then she heard a crackle in the air. The whip was right behind her. Jacky did a magnificent leap in the air, and she looked like a silver flash, whipping around the ring. "WOAH!" The instructor yelled. The mare slowed down to a trot.
After a few laps around the ring at a trot, the woman yelled out "Canter," and waved the whip behind the mare's butt. The mare went into a fast canter, but still whipping around the ring. "GALLOP!" the woman yelled out again. With that, the mare took off to a VERY fast gallop around the ring. She felt the same way she had felt before she met the paddock. That feeling like she was free. Her ears pricked forward, and she went even faster. "HOAH!" said the instructor as she pulled the mare into the center of the ring. The mare's nostrils flared, taking in tons of oxygen. "You did good today, mare. You get to go in the paddock." The woman said. They walked out of the riding ring and to the paddock. "Enjoy your graze." She said. And the mare ran happily across the field to join the other horses in grazing.
